Must-Do Things in Vegas For First-Timers

Vegas is a city like no other, and it is a truly unique offering. Set in an ordinarily inhospitable desert, you will find a gambling mecca, bright lights, and non-stop attractions.

There is no time to rest in Vegas, and you could fill your day with activities from morning until night, even throughout the night. They say New York is the City that never sleeps, but Vegas will certainly give it a run for its money, and with so many iconic sights and world-renowned attractions, it can be difficult to know where to start. If you are visiting Las Vegas for the time, then here is a must-do itinerary.

Bellagio fountains

Perhaps one of the most iconic landmarks of Las Vegas is the Bellagio Resort and Casino, which features an 8-acre artificial lake with an epic fountain display that is synchronized to music and light displays. The free show runs every 30 minutes throughout the day and every 15 minutes during the night.

The fountains are a sight to behold that will be forever immortalized in the box office smash, Ocean’s Eleven. While at the Bellagio fountains, take a walk inside the resort to experience the grandeur and exquisite decorations of the lobby, which features some of the unique plants and flowers in the world.

Shoppingmust-do things in Vegas

One of the often overlooked attractions of Vegas is its shopping. Las Vegas is home to several high-end malls just off of the strip and a large variety of different outlet malls where you will be sure to pick up a bargain.

What is more, Vegas has unique offerings of independent stores, boutiques, and even pop-up shops, the latest being the Kardashian Kloset, where you will be able to purchases pieces from the family’s own closet.

See a show

Shows in Vegas are prestigious and world-renowned. For many performers, Vegas can be the pinnacle of their career, and with 70% of Vegas guests taking in a show during their stay, it is no surprise.

Shows get booked up early, so if you want to get a seat at a particular show, you have to be prepared and reserve your spots early before you even step foot in Vegas.

Some popular and long-standing shows in Vegas include Blue Man Group, Cirque Du Soleil, and Penn and Teller’s Magic. These shows often come at a steep price but one that will get you high-end productions, unmissable entertainment, and an unforgettable experience.

Explore the strip

Along the strip, you will come across many casinos and hotels based on iconic landmarks from around the world. Simply walking along the strip and visiting some of the casinos and hotels is a sight to behold. Perhaps you have always wanted to go to Paris or Venice? Then you can do it Vegas style, just by walking along the strip.

You can take a tour to the top of the Eiffel tower when visiting Paris, explore ancient Eygpt at The Luxor, or America’s very own New York at the aptly named New York.

If you have had enough of walking the length and breadth of the strip, then stop by The Venetian and take a ride on the indoor and outdoor gondolas, mimicking Venice itself.

The Venetian resort replicates St Mark’s Square on the inside and is complete with characters and gelato stands. It is a lavish experience that boasts larger-than-life decor and is well worth a visit.

The STRAT

The Stratosphere hotel and casino offers up experiences that are not for the faint-hearted. The Stratosphere is a 350m high tower that showcases a 360-degree panoramic view in America’s tallest freestanding observation tower.

Situated at the North end of the strip, you will be able to soak in some of the infamous sights of Las Vegas. What is more, sitting quite literally on top of the tower is a theme park with rides only true thrill-seekers could manage. One such ride is the STRAT Skyjump, whereby you essentially jump off the end of the building. Yes really.

A selfie in front of the Vegas sign

Other than the Bellagio fountains, there is one other landmark that everybody associates with Las Vegas: the infamous ‘Welcome to Las Vegas sign.

You haven’t been to Vegas if you have not stood in front of that sign, taken a selfie, and created the most instagrammable shot of your year. The sign can be found at the South end of the strip and is completely free, although you may have to queue a little to get your perfect shot. No trip to Vegas is complete without the money shot in front of that infamous sign.
