Tips for Planning the Best Halloween Bash

As more and more people in the US get vaccinated against COVID-19, life finally seems to be getting back to normal. By October, large inside gatherings will be back on the table, and you know what that means: It’s time to plan a Halloween Party!

And not just any Halloween party. After a year of distance, we want this party to be memorable for everyone invited. Read on for our tips on throwing an unforgettable Halloween Bash this fall!

Deck out your place

Whether you’re going all out or trying to throw a party on a budget, the first part of planning a great party is figuring out decor. And we’re not talking about paper ghosts or a cardboard graveyard. We suggest Halloween going for a dark and creepy ambiance (think more like a club, not an abandoned hospital).

Don’t be afraid to play with party lights and fog machines to take the mood to the next level. This sets the vibe of the event from the moment the guests walk through the door, so go all out! Make it feel like a different world in there that they won’t want to leave!

Two words: costume contest

One of the best parts of any Halloween party is the chance to dress up. Encourage everyone to put on their costumes for Halloween and get a little wild!

Finding the right one for you can be easy, as quality cloaks, capes, and costumes are available online. They come in various lengths and designs to complement your entire ensemble. There are a wide array of materials too, such as wool, cotton, and canvas. Thus, if you choose to be a historical character from a movie, television show, or video game, it’s easy to find a costume suitable for your role.

For maximum party energy, set up a costume contest and make it competitive. One of the best ways to incentivize participation in the contest is to offer a cash prize. Ask each of your guests to contribute a small amount of money ($5 is plenty, it adds up quickly) and let everyone know that the winner takes the pot.

Alternatively, you could add a giving element to the party and let the winner pick a charity or organization to give the funds to. No matter how you do it, adding a bit of competition into the party will make people that much more willing to get into the spirit.

Halloween bash: themed drinks

It’s just a fact: Every good house party features plenty of booze. But providing all of your guests with drinks can get pricey, fast. To keep the price down, stick to one or two Halloween-themed house drinks. Think Bloooodyyy Marys or pretty much any mixed drink with green food coloring in it. These add a fun and unique twist to the party but won’t break the bank for you as the host. If you don’t have time for this, though, don’t stress! Just get some beer and wine delivered to your house straight from your phone; we promise your guests won’t even notice.

Hype your guests up by getting them involved

Throwing a Halloween blowout can be a lot of work, so don’t do it all alone. Get people excited for your event while also taking some of the work off your hands by including them along the way. Want more people at your function? Allow guests to invite friends. Want a hot playlist without doing the work? Make a collaborative playlist and include the link in the invite. Your guests can then add songs to it, making the soundtrack a group effort. This will save you a ton of time and a bonus: you can’t get blamed if the music is bad.

If you’re planning on throwing a rager, you have to go big or go home. With its built-in theme, Halloween is an excellent excuse to get all of your friends together for an amazing night. Hopefully, these 4 tips will help you throw a party that everyone will love and no one will forget.
